It’s official: Alaska Airlines pilots vote YES on new contract
Alaska Airlines pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), voted to ratify a new three-year contract. Alaska Airlines makes biggest Boeing aircraft order in its 90-year history
We’re exercising options to purchase 52 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for delivery between 2024 and 2027 – growing our confirmed 737 MAX fleet to 146. We also secured rights for 105 more planes through 2030, ensuring access to sufficient aircraft for fleet replacement and growth. This agreement represents the largest commitment for future aircraft in our airline’s history.
Winter weather is impacting our flights in Seattle
Additional snow is expected for the Seattle area beginning Wednesday afternoon/night. While Tuesday was challenging for many guests, who experienced long taxi times and deicing delays, our strategy of proactively thinning our flight schedule worked to mitigate the worst impacts from the storm. The Embraer 175 jet or E175 is now the sole aircraft flown at Horizon Air, Alaska Airlines’ long time regional airline sister company, as we continue to modernize our fleet. The last commercial flight of the Q400 was on Jan. 26 between Spokane and Seattle.
From a space shuttle to a 737 – a pilot’s journey to Alaska Airlines
Our employees are (literally) out of this world! Meet First Officer Nicholas Patrick who came to Alaska after a career in space exploration – including time as an astronaut for NASA. When asked why he chose to fly for Alaska, Nicholas said, “I realized that Alaska was the friendliest airline I’d ever flown. Everyone was happy and helpful, and the standards were very high.”
