Alaska Airlines sends rescue flights & wildfire relief to help people on Maui

Alaska is closely monitoring the devastating impacts from the Maui wildfires and continues to operate eight daily departures from the island. We are offering a flexible travel policy if you would like to change or cancel your flight.  Other areas of Maui (including Kahului, Wailuku, Kīhei, Wailea, Mākena and Hāna) remain open — as well as the other Hawaiian Islands, like Kaua‘i, O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island — and are ready to welcome visitors who are traveling to the Islands with care and respect.

Alaska’s Aviation Day lands in San Francisco for the first time

This year, which marked our 15th year of hosting Aviation Day, nearly 3,000 teens attended events in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco—for the very first time. Jaxon Dingel, who is deaf, was part of a group of students from the California School for the Deaf who had never considered a career in aviation until meeting some of our employees and realizing there is a place for him in the industry.

Middle schoolers travel thousands of miles for weeklong giveback in Hawai‘i, discover the Aloha spirit

Recently we surprised 12 West Oakland Middle School students with a seven-day trip to Hawai’i in partnership with STATE Bags. For many of them, it was for their first time on a plane—and for all of them, it was their first time to the Islands. From harvesting kalo to zip-lining through lush forests and diving in to so many immersive experiences, the students learned powerful ways to malama Hawaii and the beauty of friendship, community and culture.

Alaska Airlines Foundation helps young people discover new skills in Hawai‘i and beyond

Over the past 23 years, we have invested more than $4 million in grants from the Alaska Airlines Foundation, a nonprofit grant-making organization, to support programs for the next generation of leaders in aviation and beyond, particularly along the West Coast. HIKI NŌ is among 68 organizations in Hawai‘i, Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington that received grants last year to equip and enable young people to pursue their career dreams.
