Alaska Airlines today will present nine employees with its highest honor, the Customer Service Legend Award.

"These Customer Service Legends are shining examples of what sets Alaska Airlines apart from the rest of the industry — our people and the unique relationship they have with our customers," said Bill Ayer, Alaska Airlines’ president and CEO. "We’re proud to honor them as the legends they are during our 75th anniversary."

The 2007 awards will be presented to Connie Burr, Anchorage, Alaska-based flight attendant; Betty Duenas, Ontario, Calif.-based customer service agent; Debbie Erickson, San Diego-based lead customer service agent; Jackie Fay, Seattle-based lead reservations sales agent; Greg Jacob, Seattle-based flight attendant; Paul Majer, Seattle-based MD-80 captain; Ray Prentice, Seattle-based director of customer care; Jana Tipton, Seattle-based manager of Aircraft On Ground desk; and Dennis Wyckoff, Phoenix-based reservations sales agent.

The recipients are among 166 Alaska employees named Customer Service Legends since the awards were introduced in 1991. Award recipients personify the airline’s values of spirit, resourcefulness, integrity, professionalism and caring. The airline employs about 10,000 people.

Alaska Airlines and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, serve 89 cities through an expansive network throughout Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico. This year Alaska Airlines celebrates its 75th anniversary, marking the airline’s growth from a single-aircraft operation in 1932 to one of the largest U.S. carriers.
