Alaska Airlines today launched a new Web site that gives passengers and employees the opportunity to share their memorable travel stories. The "Your Alaska Stories" site, accessible at youralaskastories.com, aims to collect and preserve Alaska Airlines history from the passenger perspective as the airline makes plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2007.
The airline invites its frequent and infrequent fliers alike to submit stories and photographs at youralaskastories.com. Visitors to the site can read travelers’ stories and view photographs in a range of categories, including memorable flight experiences and favorite destinations.
"As we embark on our 75th year, we’re turning to our own passengers, who are some of the best experts out there on Alaska Airlines history," said Greg Latimer, Alaska’s managing director of brand and product marketing. "We have heard so many unique travel stories over the years — tales of in-flight marriage proposals, snow storms that couldn’t cancel family reunions, you name it — and we’re looking forward to sharing and preserving these stories at youralaskastories.com."
Founded in Anchorage, Alaska, as McGee Airways in 1932, Alaska Airlines has grown from a bush carrier flying a three-seat Stinson aircraft to become the ninth-largest commercial airline in the United States. The airline plans a number of events in 2007 to mark its 75th anniversary.
Alaska Airlines and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve 88 cities through an expansive network throughout Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico. For reservations visit alaskaair.com.
