Alaska Airlines announced the appointment of Shannon Alberts to managing director board and shareholder services where she will be responsible for investor relations, corporate governance and the Alaska Air Group board of directors.

A 19-year employee of the airline, Alberts was previously director of corporate affairs and assistant corporate secretary. Prior to Alaska, Alberts worked for Miller Electric, Inc. of Seattle and for the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle.

"Shannon is an incredibly competent person, whose intelligence, integrity and diligence are invaluable to Alaska Airlines," said Keith Loveless, the airline’s vice president, legal and corporate affairs. "With her background and education, she is uniquely qualified to take on this new role."

Alberts holds a Certified Equity Professional certificate from Santa Clara University and is enrolled in the executive MBA program at the University of Washington Business School, in Seattle.

Raised in Ritzville, Washington, she currently resides in Milton, Washington.
