Alaska Airlines has lifted its recommendation that passengers check all baggage and is returning to its normal carry-on policy of one small bag and one personal item per passenger. New Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules prohibiting all liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on luggage are still in effect.

The airline continues to recommend transporting carry-on luggage in a clear plastic bag for easier screening due to the new security measures instituted Aug. 10. Arrival at the airport two hours before departure time is also advised; however, earlier arrival is not necessary.

Travelers are advised to check the TSA Web site at http://www.tsa.gov/ before departure for the most current information on security restrictions. Alaska Airlines’ carry-on baggage policy allows each passenger one carry-on bag, measuring up to 10 inches high, 17 inches wide and 24 inches long, plus one personal item, such as a purse, briefcase or laptop computer. At least one of the items should be stowed under the seat in front of the passenger.

The airline also allows two pieces of checked baggage, each measuring a maximum of 62 linear inches (length + width + height) and weighing up to 50 pounds. Excess baggage charges apply to additional, overweight and oversized pieces of luggage.

Alaska Airlines passengers with questions or concerns are advised to check the carrier’s Web site at alaskaair.com. They also may call Alaska Reservations at (800) 252-7522.
