SEATTLE, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Alaska Airlines is launching daily nonstop flights between Seattle and San Antonio, Texas, today.

"San Antonio is the second-largest city in Texas and has a variety of great attractions for visitors, in addition to being a vibrant business community," said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. "We are pleased to bring our low fares and great customer service to our fourth destination in the Lone Star state."

Alaska Airlines started service to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 2005 and to Austin and Houston in 2009. The dominant carrier along the West Coast, Alaska Airlines now serves 16 destinations east of the Rocky Mountains.

"The addition of Seattle to the airport’s roster of destinations is a great benefit to San Antonio‘s leisure traveler and our business community," San Antonio Aviation Director Frank R. Miller said. "More importantly, we are pleased to welcome a new airline to the San Antonio market. Known for a high level of customer service and a growing network of routes, we look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with Alaska Airlines."
