Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air today announced they have entered into a new codeshare agreement and an expanded frequent-flier partnership with Air France.

Under the codeshare agreement, Air France will sell codeshare tickets on Alaska- and Horizon-operated flights serving 18 cities in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The codeshare flights conveniently connect with Air France’s nonstop Seattle-Paris flights, which offer further connections to points throughout the carrier’s route system in Europe, India, Africa and the Middle East. Tickets for travel beginning Jan. 5, 2008, will be available for purchase from Air France starting Dec. 15.

"The new codeshare agreement will significantly benefit customers traveling from the Pacific Northwest and Alaska to Europe and other international destinations, taking advantage of Air France’s extensive network," said Don Garvett, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of strategy and corporate development. "Customers will be able to purchase a single ticket, check bags only once and enjoy convenient connections to their final Air France destination."

Alaska and Horizon also recently expanded their frequent-flier partnership with the Air France/KLM Flying Blue program. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can earn miles that count toward MVP and MVP Gold status qualification and redeem mileage credit on Air France and KLM flights worldwide.

Air France operates 1,700 daily flights with a fleet of 389 aircraft, including 131 regional aircraft operated by its subsidiaries Britair, CityJet and Regional. Air France and KLM together gave birth to Europe’s leading air transport group in May 2004. Both airlines now offer their customers a combined network, which includes a total of 237 destinations in 104 countries. Air France is a founding member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with worldwide destinations, flights and services. Air France was founded in 1933. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members can earn or redeem mileage on more than a dozen airlines, including more major U.S. airlines than any other frequent-flier program. The program offers additional opportunities to earn miles through an extensive network of partners, including the Alaska Airlines Visa credit and debit cards, Mileage Plan Shopping, Mileage Plan Dining, Safeway and more than 30 hotel and car rental partners worldwide.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air together serve 92 cities through an expansive network in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. For reservations, visit alaskaair.com. For more news and information, visit the Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air Newsroom at http://alaskaair.com/newsroom.
