Alaska Airlines today announced it has successfully completed the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and has been entered into the IOSA Registry.

The IOSA Registry is recognized as a worldwide benchmark for airline safety and quality. To achieve IOSA Registration, Alaska Airlines satisfied more than 700 standards in eight operational areas, including flight operations, operational control and flight dispatch, aircraft engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, aircraft ground handling, cargo operations and operational security.

"Alaska Airlines has an uncompromising commitment to operational safety and quality, and participating in the IOSA Registry is a natural extension of this commitment," said Chris Glaeser, Alaska’s vice president of safety. "By completing the audit, Alaska has further demonstrated to the industry and to our customers that our operational safety and quality processes are consistent with those of the world’s leading airlines."

The IOSA program contributes to improved aviation safety worldwide in a cost-effective manner for the airline industry, by establishing a universally accepted set of safety-audit standards and reducing the industry’s reliance on redundant audits with varying standards. Preparing for or completing IOSA Registration is a condition of membership in the IATA, which represents more than 95 percent of all international airline passenger traffic.
