Alaska Airlines will offer new daily nonstop service between San Diego and San Francisco starting Oct. 29. Alaska will operate four daily flights on weekdays and a reduced schedule on weekends, with flights timed for convenient connections to and from other destinations in the Pacific Northwest and Mexico as well as Vancouver, British Columbia.

One-way fares for travel between San Diego and San Francisco start at $79, and customers who travel by Dec. 15, 2006, will earn double Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles. Reservations, tickets and Mileage Plan information are available at alaskaair.com or by calling 800-ALASKAAIR.

"Alaska Airlines is continuing to grow, connecting more points throughout the region in our West Coast backyard," said John MacLeod, Alaska’s managing director of planning and alliances. "We’re pleased that passengers traveling between the great cities of San Diego and San Francisco will now have another option for air travel, one that offers award-winning service at competitive fares."

The southbound 90-minute flights will depart San Francisco on weekdays at 7:50 a.m., 3:43 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 7:58 p.m. Northbound flights will depart San Diego on weekdays at 8 a.m., 10:04 a.m., 5:48 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.

San Diego will become the 11th destination Alaska serves nonstop from San Francisco. The airline also provides nonstop service between San Francisco and Los Angeles; Palm Springs, Calif; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; Vancouver, British Colombia; and the Mexican destinations of Cancun, Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo and Puerto Vallarta.

San Francisco will become the fourth destination Alaska serves nonstop from San Diego. The airline also provides nonstop service between San Diego and Portland, Ore.; Seattle; and the Mexican resort destination of Los Cabos.

   --   Airfares listed do not include airport passenger facility charges
        (based on one-way travel) of up to $9 (amount depends on itinerary),
        federal segment tax of $3.30 per segment (takeoff and landing), and
        a U.S. security fee of $2.50 per enplanement (up to $10).

   --   Airfare restrictions apply. Seats are limited and certain fares may
        not be available on all flights or on all days. Tickets are
        nonrefundable but can be changed for a $50 change fee and any
        applicable changes in fare. All fares are in U.S. dollars and are
