Alaska Airlines announces new director of government affairs in Washington, D.C.

SEATTLE — Alaska Airlines has named Kate Geldaker as its director of government affairs, effective August 10. Geldaker will be based in Washington, D.C. where she will represent Alaska Airlines before key policymakers at the federal level, including a key focus on Capitol Hill.

“Kate will serve in a key role for the company in Washington, D.C.  She brings extensive Capitol Hill experience, aviation policy knowledge, and a passion for our airline,” said Megan Ouellette, Alaska’s managing director of government affairs. “We are thrilled to welcome Kate and know she will create an immediate positive impact for the company in D.C.” 

Geldaker is no stranger to aviation, the Pacific Northwest, or the state of Alaska. Previously, she served as deputy director of congressional affairs at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Prior to that, Geldaker was a senior legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, advising on matters related to tourism, aviation and technology. In addition, Geldaker held multiple positions with former U.S. Sen. Mark Begich of Alaska.
