Alaska Airlines today announced it will add six more weekly flights this fall on existing routes to some of Mexico’s most popular resort destinations from Los Angeles and San Francisco. Starting Oct. 29, Alaska will increase the number of weekly flights connecting Los Angeles and Loreto from three to four, Manzanillo from four to six, and Mazatlan from seven to eight. The airline will also increase the number of weekly flights between San Francisco and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo from two to four.

The airline’s total capacity serving Mexico will increase by 22 percent this fall, resulting from more frequent flights on existing routes and five new nonstop routes. Earlier this month, Alaska announced it will inaugurate nonstop service in the fall between Los Angeles and La Paz, San Francisco and Cancun, and Seattle and Cancun, as well as between Portland, Ore., and both Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.

"Mexico is an increasingly popular destination for customers throughout Alaska Airlines’ route system, including customers flying directly from California and the Pacific Northwest, and those connecting from Canada, Alaska and beyond," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska Airlines’ executive vice president of marketing and planning. "This fall, we’re adding a significant number of new routes and more frequent flights to Mexico in response to this growing demand."

Alaska Airlines introduced service to Mexico in 1988, and now transports more than 1.2 million passengers annually between the U.S. West Coast and Mexico. During its upcoming winter schedule, the airline will operate up to 44 flights daily serving 10 Mexican destinations, including Cancun, Guadalajara, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, La Paz, Loreto, Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Mazatlan, Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta.

Alaska Airlines Vacations offers vacation packages, including round-trip air travel and hotel accommodations, to each of the Mexico resort destinations the airline serves. Alaska’s mealtime flights to Mexican resort destinations offer the airline’s Northern Bites meals-for-purchase service, which allows coach passengers to purchase a meal onboard for $5.
