Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported November passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s November traffic increased 11.2 percent to 1.312 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.180 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during November was 1.791 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 6.2 percent higher than the 1.687 billion in November 2003.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 73.3 percent, compared to 70.0 percent in November 2003. The airline carried 1,320,200 passengers compared to 1,211,600 in November 2003.

RPMs for the eleven-month period totaled 14.818 billion, an 11.8 percent increase from the 13.253 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the eleven months ended November 2004 increased 7.3 percent to 20.417 billion ASMs, compared to 19.020 billion in 2003.

The passenger load factor for the first eleven months of 2004 was 72.6 percent, compared to 69.7 percent in 2003. The airline carried 14,887,200 passengers compared to 13,729,900 in November 2003.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon Air’s November traffic increased 39.7 percent to 187.6 million RPMs from 134.3 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for November was 255.9 million ASMs, 27.6 percent higher than last year’s 200.6 million.

The passenger load factor for the month was 73.3 percent, compared to 67.0 percent last November. The airline carried 511,000 passengers compared to 402,500 in November 2003.

RPMs for the eleven-month period totaled 1.954 billion, a 30.5 percent increase from the 1.497 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the eleven months ended November 2004 increased 20.1 percent to 2.836 billion ASMs compared to 2.361 billion in 2003.

The passenger load factor for the first eleven months of 2004 was 68.9 percent, compared to 63.4 percent in 2003. The airline carried 5,384,000 passengers, compared to 4,503,200 in 2003.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual November operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress, which started in 2004.
