Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported June passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s June traffic increased 1.4 percent to 1.542 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.520 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity for June was 1.926 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 2.9 percent lower than the 1.983 billion in June 2004.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 80.1 percent, compared to 76.7 percent in June 2004. The airline carried 1,508,800 passengers compared to 1,514,200 in June 2004.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 8.213 billion, a 6.9 percent increase from the 7.684 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2005 increased 0.9 percent to 10.913 billion ASMs, compared to 10.813 billion in 2004.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2005 was 75.3 percent, compared to 71.1 percent in 2004. The airline carried 8,081,000 passengers compared to 7,707,300 in 2004.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon’s June traffic increased 11.1 percent to 221.3 million RPMs from 199.1 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for June was 290.4 million ASMs, 6.4 percent higher than the 272.8 million in June 2004.

The passenger load factor for the month was 76.2 percent, compared to 73.0 percent in June 2004. The airline carried 576,400 passengers compared to 533,600 in June 2004.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 1.159 billion, a 17.7 percent increase from the 984.6 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2005 increased 9.9 percent to 1.631 billion ASMs compared to 1.484 billion in 2004.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2005 was 71.0 percent, compared to 66.3 percent in 2004. The airline carried 3,112,000 passengers, compared to 2,720,800 in 2004.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual June operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier Jet Express.
