Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported June passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska's June traffic increased 12.1 percent to 1.520 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.356 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during June was 1.983 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 6.8 percent higher than the 1.858 billion in June 2003.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare paying passengers) for the month was 76.6 percent, compared to 73.0 percent in June 2003. The airline carried 1,514,200 passengers compared to 1,395,500 in June 2003.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 7.684 billion, a 12.7 percent increase from the 6.821 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2004 increased 9.0 percent to 10.813 billion ASMs, compared to 9.918 billion in 2003.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2004 was 71.1 percent, compared to 68.8 percent in 2003. The airline carried 7,707,300 passengers compared to 7,055,000 in 2003.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon's June traffic increased 36.7 percent to 199.4 million RPMs from 145.9 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for June was 272.8 million ASMs, 23.4 percent higher than last year's 221.0 million.

The passenger load factor for the month was 73.1 percent, compared to 66.0 percent last June. The airline carried 535,000 passengers compared to 441,100 in June 2003.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 985.7 million, a 30.1 percent increase from the 757.7 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2004 increased 18.8 percent to 1.484 billion ASMs compared to 1.248 billion in 2003.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2004 was 66.4 percent, compared to 60.7 percent in 2003. The airline carried 2,725,800 passengers, compared to 2,294,800 in 2003.

Horizon's RPMs, passenger load factor, and passengers are reported using actual June operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon's regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress which started in 2004.
