Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported June passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s June traffic increased 6.5 percent to 1.642 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.542 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during June was 2.014 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 4.6 percent higher than the 1.926 billion in June 2005.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 81.5 percent, compared to 80.1 percent in June 2005. The airline carried 1,579,100 passengers, compared to 1,508,800 in June 2005.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 8.706 billion, a 6 percent increase from the 8.213 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2006 increased 4.2 percent to 11.373 billion ASMs, compared to 10.913 billion in 2005.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2006 was 76.5 percent, compared to 75.3 percent in 2005. The airline carried 8,348,100 passengers, compared to 8,083,300 in 2005.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon’s June traffic increased 8 percent to 239.3 million RPMs from 221.5 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during June was 301.8 million ASMs, 3.9 percent higher than the 290.4 million in June 2005.

The passenger load factor for the month was 79.3 percent, compared to 76.3 percent in June 2005. The airline carried 608,600 passengers, compared to 576,500 in June 2005.

RPMs for the six-month period totaled 1.310 billion, a 13 percent increase from the 1.160 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the six months ended June 2006 increased 9 percent to 1.778 billion ASMs, compared to 1.631 billion in 2005.

The passenger load factor for the first six months of 2006 was 73.7 percent, compared to 71.1 percent in 2005. The airline carried 3,339,600 passengers, compared to 3,112,900 in 2005.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated June operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress.
