Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported February passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s February traffic decreased 0.8 percent to 1.250 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.260 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during February was 1.769 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 3.4 percent higher than the 1.711 billion in February 2006.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 70.7 percent, compared to 73.6 percent in February 2006. The airline carried 1,197,800 passengers, compared to 1,209,400 in February 2006.

RPMs for the two-month period totaled 2.534 billion, a 0.8 percent decrease from the 2.555 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the two months ended February 2007 increased 3.1 percent to 3.699 billion ASMs, compared to 3.589 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first two months of 2007 was 68.5 percent, compared to 71.2 percent in 2006. The airline carried 2,414,200 passengers, compared to 2,447,700 in 2006.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon’s February traffic increased 3.5 percent to 202.2 million RPMs from 195.3 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during February was 293.9 million ASMs, 7.6 percent higher than the 273.2 million in February 2006.

The passenger load factor for the month was 68.8 percent, compared to 71.5 percent in February 2006. The airline carried 513,000 passengers, compared to 502,400 in February 2006.

RPMs for the two-month period totaled 393.6 million, a 2.0 percent increase from the 386.0 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the two months ended February 2007 increased 5.0 percent to 596.1 million ASMs, compared to 567.8 million in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first two months of 2007 was 66.0 percent, compared to 68.0 percent in 2006. The airline carried 1,014,700 passengers, compared to 995,700 in 2006.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual February operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress.
