Alaska Air Group, Inc. today reported April passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s April traffic increased 2.0 percent to 1.515 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.486 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during April was 1.970 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 4.2 percent higher than the 1.890 billion in April 2006.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 76.9 percent, compared to 78.6 percent in April 2006. The airline carried 1,447,800 passengers, compared to 1,420,300 in April 2006.

RPMs for the four-month period totaled 5.581 billion, a 0.3 percent increase from the 5.567 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the four months ended April 2007 increased 3.2 percent to 7.664 billion ASMs, compared to 7.428 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first four months of 2007 was 72.8 percent, compared to 74.9 percent in 2006. The airline carried 5,310,300 passengers, compared to 5,324,800 in 2006.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon’s April traffic increased 2.8 percent to 227.8 million RPMs from 221.6 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during April was 319.0 million ASMs, 8.3 percent higher than the 294.5 million in April 2006.

The passenger load factor for the month was 71.4 percent, compared to 75.2 percent in April 2006. The airline carried 587,400 passengers, compared to 553,200 in April 2006.

RPMs for the four-month period totaled 854.8 million, a 1.5 percent increase from the 841.9 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity during the four months ended April 2007 increased 6.1 percent to 1.244 billion ASMs, compared to 1.172 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first four months of 2007 was 68.7 percent, compared to 71.8 percent in 2006. The airline carried 2,196,000 passengers, compared to 2,147,300 in 2006.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual April operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress.
