Today is International Flight Attendant Day—a day where we collectively tip our hats to our flight attendants with awe and appreciation for all that you do, every flight, every day to ensure safety and care for our guests. And what better way to honor our inflight team than to celebrate four incredible women who have each spent over 50 years in the skies for Alaska Airlines. Here’s their story.
We’re exercising options to purchase 52 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft for delivery between 2024 and 2027 – growing our confirmed 737 MAX fleet to 146. We also secured rights for 105 more planes through 2030, ensuring access to sufficient aircraft for fleet replacement and growth. This agreement represents the largest commitment for future aircraft in our airline’s history.
Additional snow is expected for the Seattle area beginning Wednesday afternoon/night. While Tuesday was challenging for many guests, who experienced long taxi times and deicing delays, our strategy of proactively thinning our flight schedule worked to mitigate the worst impacts from the storm. We’re implementing a similar strategy for this next snowfall.
In the wake of the winter storms, our operations have returned to normal across our network. We continue to help our guests with travel arrangements for flights that were canceled over the past week and a half, including booking them on other airlines to get them to their destinations.

The Embraer 175 jet or E175 is now the sole aircraft flown at Horizon Air, Alaska Airlines’ long time regional airline sister company, as we continue to modernize our fleet. The last commercial flight of the Q400 was on Jan. 26 between Spokane and Seattle.
Our employees are (literally) out of this world! Meet First Officer Nicholas Patrick who came to Alaska after a career in space exploration – including time as an astronaut for NASA. When asked why he chose to fly for Alaska, Nicholas said, “I realized that Alaska was the friendliest airline I’d ever flown. Everyone was happy and helpful, and the standards were very high.”
When Kyle H. put on his uniform as a full-fledged aircraft technician last year, it was thanks to a lot of grit, determination and encouragement from his coworkers—and a new company benefit called the Maintenance Technician Development Program.
