Wildfire update: Alaska to resume operations in Portland and Spokane this afternoon
Alaska’s operations in Portland and Spokane are scheduled to resume at 3 p.m. Pacific Time today. Horizon is also resuming its operations at both airports, but at a reduced capacity.
Resetting for the new year
As we have entered 2022, the continued impacts of omicron have been disruptive in all our lives and unprecedented levels of sick calls have impacted our ability to operate our airline reliably. As a result, we are proactively thinning our schedule and reducing departures by about 10% through the end of this month.
Why we’ve canceled flights, and what we are doing to get back on track
At the beginning of this month, we let down some of our valued guests by cancelling an unusual number of flights. To all of you who were impacted, we are deeply sorry. We put you in a frustrating situation—most likely when you were looking to take a fun trip, family vacation or needed to get somewhere important to you. We must do better. Over the last few days, we looked at how we got here, and are taking action to get back on track.
