We’re smiling from wing to wing

It’s a privilege to be recognized as “Best Airline” any time of year –– but twice in one week? We’re thankful to flyers for choosing Alaska, over and over again.

Today, Condé Nast Traveler named us “Best U.S. Airline” in their 31st annual 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards. The award is especially significant because it’s based on the feedback of more than 429,000 readers who shared millions of ratings about their recent travel experiences on Alaska Airlines to help create a winning list of favorites.

We’re building on the legacy that Virgin America created by pushing ourselves to be better. Remaining at the top means staying focused on giving you what you want: low fares for better value, including free texting and movies, seatback power, assigned seating, bigger overhead bins, a fresh new West Coast-inspired menu, generous, affordable Premium Class service and our award-winning loyalty program.

In the past year, we’ve also added 15 spacious, three-class cabin E175s to our fleet. And we’re working hard to plus up our onboard experience with new additions coming soon including high-speed satellite connectivity and a new lounge experience with an on-site barista.

Today’s award comes on the heels of recognition from KAYAK. Users of the travel site chose Alaska as their favorite way to fly, resulting in the 2018 KAYAK Best Airline badge. And on top of being voted best in the biz, KAYAK users helped us round out the airline category –– earning five more badges –– including best boarding, best comfort, best crew, best entertainment and best food. Truly a best-case scenario from beginning to end.

“These awards continue to demonstrate the kind of thoughtful, well-rounded experience our employees deliver every single day,” said Ben Minicucci, Alaska’s president and chief operating officer.

Thank you for keeping us top of mind when choosing an airline –– and when sharing what you love about travel. We’re committed to always giving you the very best experience at a great value, and we look forward to showing you why you’re the heart of our business the next time you’re onboard.

  1. Thank you for the post, very interesting information.

  2. I joined the Alaska Air frequent flyer program back in 1985 when it was called the Gold Pass program – since then I haven’t flown as much as I have on United for my numerous international flight – 3 million miler – but I like using Alaska Air – 1/2 million miles – for many west coast routes and some Hawaii flights – although the first class seat configuration is not to my liking, seats are too close and the seats are not comfortable – wish you would make needed changes!

    1. Fly on ex-VX metal…better F seats (until AS reconfigures the cabin).

  3. Thanks for including me. But, with limited funds my trip to Costa Rica is all I can afford. Love flying Alaska. Can I have some Alaska lounge passes for my trip in January?

    1. Hi Barbara. You can access our lounges by purchasing a membership or day pass. You are also welcome to visit if you’ve purchased a first class seat.

  4. Wowee!!! It would be a privilege to be a part of this winning team! Would you have a need to add a handsome seasoned addition to your team? I would love to be signed on!!!

  5. When do flights go out of Everett? What is ETA for Paine Field?? Update the pubic!!

    1. Hi Jim. Alaska Airlines service out of Paine Field is expected in early 2019. We’ll provide an update as soon as we have more information to share. Thanks for your patience!

  6. Congratulations to Alaska Airlines, the #1 airline in the U.S. It’s a well-deserved honor. With only two exceptions (necessary because of destination, not choice), I have not flown with any other airline since 2005 – not do I ever intend to do so. You’ll always be “my” airline.

Well done! (And keep it up!)

  7. I was impressed with your non-stop flights from SD to Boston round trip for an affordable price! Please keep it going. Everyone else is raising prices beyond fairness and reason.
    Thank you.

  8. Congratulations…You have and always will be the Best Airlines. Definitely your people are the Nicest and the most Helpful in the industry. I have been a member of the mileage plan for close to 35 years now. Thank you for Everything you do…

  9. Love your airline the best! Yes, you do pack us in here like cattle similar to all the other airlines wanting as many seats on the plane as possible, but your employees are by far the nicest, most helpful, courteous and competent of ALL airlines! I always choose Alaska first. Thank you for the great service.

  10. Having a wonderful flight! Very comfortable seats!

  11. Alaska Airlines employees, on the ground and in the air have all been very helpful to my wife and I and our son and his family who live in Alaska. We really appreciate the buy one ticket and the second for $99 plus fees. Thank you and keep it up.

  12. I recently flew to San Diego round trip from Seattle -1st class both times. On my way to San Diego, I flew on an A319 and was beyond impressed with the reclining seats. On the way back I had he usual Boeing 737-900. I would love t if you could design your 1st class long haul flights to have the A319 1st class configuration. It was so nice to have a foot rest and the ability to lie back and take a nap. Night flights could really benefit from this seat configuration. Thank you for considering.

  13. Cheers! Your airline is the best!

  14. I just can’t express my appreciation to the reservations employees! They, help this little old man make reservations and are so nice and helpful when they do. They want to do all they can to make my flight reservations easy and quick. Also, they are fun to talk to and always are so personable!
    Love you All

  15. Been in Juneau since 1960. My husband and I always fly the best, Ak Air for quality service!

  16. So happy that my work commute allows me to fly your wonderful airline. Congrats.

  17. Congratulations on “Best US Airlines” by Conde Nast Traveler. We have traveled with Alaska Airline for years and think it is an outstanding Airlines. Proud of you and glad to be a member????????????????????????????

  18. I’m so proud to be a part of this team.

    1. I love walking through the entire complex of the baggage claim area in airports all across the country and whispering to disgruntled, exhausted, exasperated, dispirited travelers,…I love whispering to them “fly Alaska and your last bad flight is a thing of the past.”

  19. Congratulations to an Alaska — after one or two hiccups in the immediate aftermath of getting a single operating certificate, things have been steadily rising at AS, and I’m more than happy to remain as loyal to AS as I was with VX.

  20. As a million miler I can vouch for these awards when forced due to schedule issue to fly another airline it’s always comforting to return to an Alaska flight.

    Job well done Alaska
