Alaska Airlines announced today that it has entered into a new partnership with Delta Air Lines that allows members of its Mileage Plan frequent flyer program to earn and redeem miles on Delta flights.

Additionally, members of the Alaska Airlines Board Room lounges will now have access to Delta Crown Room locations in Atlanta, Cincinnati and Salt Lake City with same-day travel on Delta Air Lines.

To celebrate the agreement, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan members will receive double miles when flying Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air or Delta Air Lines between November 1 and December 15, 2004.

"We are pleased to welcome Delta to the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska's executive vice president of marketing and planning. "Our members will enjoy an expanded worldwide network of destinations that is unparalleled by any other U.S. carrier."

To receive Double Miles, Mileage Plan members must register online via alaskaair.com prior to their first qualifying flight. Customers who are not Mileage Plan members may enroll online at alaskaair.com and receive 500 bonus miles.

Double Miles are valid on qualifying paid flights marketed and operated by Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and Delta Air Lines and credited to an Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan account. Double Miles apply to actual miles flown and do not count toward elite level status. The promotion is subject to change without notice, and all terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan program apply.

The addition of Delta expands the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan network to 11 airlines serving more than 700 destinations. Airline partners include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, Horizon Air, KLM, LAN, Northwest Airlines and QANTAS.

Delta Air Lines, the world's second largest airline, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Delta flies daily to 493 destinations in 87 countries via its network of carriers and worldwide partners. For more information, visit delta.com.

Alaska and its sister carrier, Horizon Air, together serve more than 80 cities in Alaska, the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico. Earlier this year, the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan was named Frequent Flyer Program of the Year for the second year in a row at the 16th Annual Freddie Awards. The award, named after Sir Freddie Laker, a commercial aviation pioneer, was created by InsideFlyer magazine publisher Randy Peterson and is considered among the most prestigious consumer awards in the airline industry.
