Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have launched a sale featuring low fares to many of the carriers’ destinations for travel after the holidays. But customers should act fast, as tickets must be purchased by Dec. 31, 2008, and travel is valid between Jan. 6 and Feb. 11, 2009.

"We wanted to extend the holiday travel season with new, lower fares to destinations on the West Coast," said Steve Jarvis, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing, sales and customer experience. "We’re hoping customers will take advantage of these low fares and our great schedules to plan a post-holiday getaway."

Sample one-way fares are: $49 between Portland, Ore., and Sacramento, Calif.; $59 between Seattle and San Francisco; $69 between Flagstaff, Ariz., and Los Angeles and Prescott, Ariz., and Los Angeles; $79 between Seattle and Santa Rosa, Calif.; $89 between Spokane, Wash., and Reno, Nev.; $109 between Seattle and Palm Springs, Calif.; $109 between Seattle and Minneapolis; and $159 between Portland, Ore., and Boston.

Fare rules: Seats are limited and subject to availability. Travel must be completed between Jan. 6, 2009, and Feb. 11, 2009. Tickets must be purchased within 24 hours of making your reservation and at least 14 days prior to your departure. Seats may not be available on all flights or all days. Passengers may check one bag for free. A second bag may be checked for $25. A fee of $100 will be assessed for each additional checked bag. Additional fees apply to checked overweight and/or oversized items. These fares may be purchased at alaskaair.com or horizonair.com provided the itinerary is no more than eight segments long (a ground segment constitutes one leg of your itinerary).
