Alaska Airlines Adds Second Daily Nonstop Fairbanks-Seattle Flight to Winter Schedule

Flight Increases Nonstop Options for Fairbanksans Traveling South, Winter
                          Tourists Flying North

FAIRBANKS, ALASKA — Alaska Airlines today announced plans to increase the number of nonstop flights between Fairbanks and Seattle during the wintertime. Starting Feb. 11, Alaska Airlines will add a second daily nonstop flight connecting Fairbanks and Seattle, doubling the number of daily nonstop flights previously available between late October and the end of April.

The additional frequency will support increasing demand for more convenient daytime travel between Fairbanks and Seattle as well as a growing market of winter tourists traveling north to explore the Alaskan interior. The new daytime flights are timed for convenient connections to and from other destinations in the Lower 48 states and for more convenient connections to international flights offered by Alaska Airlines codeshare partners.

"Fairbanksans have continued to tell us they like to get to Seattle directly without stopping along the way, and we’ve worked hard to make that possible for more customers by adding more nonstop service during the winter season."

Alaska Airlines has worked with the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau (FCVB) on an ongoing basis to enhance air service to the Fairbanks community.

Hickok noted there is increasing domestic tourism activity in Fairbanks during the winter months. The World Ice Art Championships, Northern Lights viewing and sled-dog races continue to attract a growing number of winter travelers to the region.

Starting Feb. 11, the new Flight 103 will depart Seattle at 3:27 p.m. Pacific time and arrive in Fairbanks at 6:10 p.m. Alaskan time. Starting Feb. 12, the new Flight 118 will depart Fairbanks at 7 a.m. Alaskan time and arrive in Seattle at 11:45 a.m. Pacific time. The flights will be operated on a Boeing 737-400 aircraft, accommodating 12 passengers in first class and 132 in the main cabin.

While increasing the number of daily nonstop Fairbanks-Seattle flights available between late October and the end of April each year, Alaska Airlines will continue its regular schedule during the rest of the year. The airline provides two daily nonstop flights in May, four daily nonstop flights June through August, and two daily nonstop flights between September and late October.
