Alaska Air Cargo to deliver season’s first catch of Copper River salmon at Sea-Tac Airport

The annual rite of spring continues as Alaska Air Cargo flies the season’s first catch of prized Copper River salmon from Cordova, Alaska, to Seattle and points beyond. The first shipment is scheduled to arrive at approximately 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at the Alaska Air Cargo Warehouse at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Every year Alaska Air Cargo partners with the state of Alaska’s three largest seafood processors – Trident Seafoods, OBI Seafoods and Copper River Seafoods – to bring the coveted fish to Seattle and Anchorage, Alaska, where it will then be delivered to restaurants and grocery stores throughout the Pacific Northwest and across the country.

Alaska Airlines eliminates inflight plastic cups

Alaska Airlines announced today the completion of our transition to paper cups for inflight beverages, a move which eliminates more than 55 million plastic cups annually and replaces them with a more planet-friendly alternative. The change to paper cups makes Alaska Airlines the first U.S. airline to eliminate plastic cups. Combined with our Boxed Water™ partnership, these changes eliminate 2.2 million pounds of plastic waste from landfills every year, the equivalent weight of 24 Boeing 737s.

From up top to the tap: Alaska Airlines pulls off ultimate beer run in multiple states

This fall, Alaska Air Cargo delivered the industry’s first and biggest fresh hops run to breweries in Maui and Anchorage within 24 hours of harvest – this was a huge logistical hop-eration that brought a favorite seasonal beer beyond the Pacific Northwest. Made from fresh-plucked, undried hops that are typically rushed straight from the fields to the breweries, Alaska went further than any U.S. commercial airline has before by delivering more than 1,200 pounds of fresh hops to Maui Brewing Co. in Hawaii and 49th State Brewing in Alaska.
