Megan Lawrence joined Alaska Airlines as director of government affairs with responsibility for federal affairs activity.

"Megan brings a strong mix of congressional experience, knowledge of the Northwest and background in aviation, transportation and homeland security issues to this important assignment leading our Washington, D.C., government affairs office," said Joe Sprague, staff vice president of government and public affairs.

Lawrence comes to Alaska Airlines from the congressional staff of former U.S. Rep. George Nethercutt, where she was responsible for air transportation and homeland security issues. An attorney, Lawrence previously worked in the law offices of Winterbauer & Diamond PLLC, Seattle, and she served on the staff of former U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton.

Lawrence is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, having earned a Juris Doctor degree (Cum Laude) from the Seattle University School of Law. She also studied international and comparative law at Trinity College, Dublin. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude) in political science at the University of Washington.
