/PRNewswire/ — Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air today launched a seven-day sale featuring low fares to most of the carriers’ destinations for travel after the holidays. Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 7, 2009, and travel is valid between Jan. 5 and March 10, 2010. Tickets are available for purchase today at alaskaair.com or horizonair.com (http://www.alaskaair.com/ or http://www.horizonair.com/).

The airlines are calling the fare sale "Hot Deals On Ice," with print ads featuring celebrated speed skater Apolo Ohno. Alaska Airlines is sponsoring Ohno in his quest for winter gold in Vancouver, British Columbia, next year. Fare rules: Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 7, 2009, for travel between Jan. 5 and March 10, 2010. A 14-day advance purchase is required, except for travel to and from Mexico. Blackout dates for travel to and from all cities, except Mexico, are: Feb. 11-12 and Feb. 15, 2010. Blackout dates for travel to Mexico are: Feb. 12-13, 2010. Travel is permitted Monday through Thursday and Saturday only, except for travel to and from Mexico, which is valid daily. Travelers are responsible for the following taxes and fees, as applicable: Airport Passenger Facility charges of up to $9 (amount depends on itinerary), Federal Segment Tax of $3.60 per segment (takeoff and landing) and U.S. Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement. All taxes and fees shown are based on one-way travel and may be doubled if traveling roundtrip. Some flights may be operated by or in conjunction with Horizon Air or an alliance partner.

Other important information: Tickets purchased at an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air airport location or through an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air reservation call center will cost $15 more per person than the advertised fare. Tickets are nonrefundable but can be changed. Changes made at alaskaair.com or horizonair.com incur a $75 per person change fee and any difference in fare. Ticket changes made through an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air reservation call center or airport ticket counter incur a $100 (USD) per person change fee or a $125 (USD) per person change fee if originally booked through a travel agent and changed through an Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air reservation call center or ticket counter, and any difference in fare. Tickets must be purchased within 24 hours of making a reservation. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or all days.
