Alaska Airlines supports Chief Football Officer Russell Wilson in campaign against domestic violence

By Shaunta Hyde, Managing Director of Community Relations, Alaska Airlines

Every minute, 20 people are victims of physical violence by an intimate partner in the United States.

Today, Alaska Airlines joins our Chief Football Officer Russell Wilson in standing up and working to change that.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and in light of recent stories of domestic abuse by professional athletes, Wilson recently took a public stand against domestic violence with a public letter and campaign intended to inspire others to help “pass the peace.”

“The idea behind Pass the Peace is simple: It’s a promise. I’m sharing my love for you. I want to take care of you. I am here for you.” Wilson wrote, in a letter posted to the Players Tribune.

He asks his friends and supporters to join in passing the peace by donating $2 or more to The National Domestic Violence Hotline, and inviting friends and family to do the same.

We stand with our CFO, and have made donations to the National Domestic Violence Hotline as well as local organization Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN).

Now, we invite you to join us. Will you pass the peace?

Thanks for challenging us, Polly Lang!
